Egg freezing allows the possibility of women freezing their eggs at an earlier age to then use in the future, it could possibly lead to a higher chance of success then using their older eggs which may have depleted in quantity and quality. Worldwide data suggests that using frozen eggs may be as effective as using fresh eggs and also shows no increase in likely birth defective or preterm labour. It is recommended that at least 20 eggs are frozen and to start at a young age to help achieve success. Once the eggs are frozen there is no difference in success whether you use them 1 or 10 years after frozen. Due to law permits eggs can only be stored for up to 10 years.

Embryos can be frozen when there is an excess of good embryos of high quality that are not used in the IVF treatment. It is much simpler for use in future treatments as it makes the IVF process a bit easier as more embryos will not need to be extracted.
